The Society

The Society was set up in 1979 to support the interest of English Setter enthusiasts in the Midlands. It has grown steadily over the years and now has over 80 members. Membership of the Society is open to all with an interest in the breed, subject to the approval of the Committee. Application forms are available here or from the Secretary. Subscription is £6 for single membership or £8.50 for joint. This includes a copy of the Society's annual magazine, Musings, and reduced entry fees at our shows.

The Society runs a Championship Show and two Open Shows annually at Midland venues, and spectators are welcome. Schedules are available from the Secretary. A Pup of the Year competition is also run in memory of Mick Slater, with a trophy kindly presented by his widow. This event is open to all members' English Setters competing in Breed Championship and Open shows during the year.

A newsletter, Musings, is published in Spring each year.  A Calendar is produced annually, with photos of our breed. If you would like to purchase a page for next year, please contact Maggie McCabe. Other events such as educational days, judges training courses, and Field Training days are also held.
